Aside from the traditionally recognized role of a speech – language pathologist, accent modification services are available to those who choose to participate in this elective clinical service. The service of accent modification seeks to provide those who speak with a non-standard English dialect to be better understood and find success in their day-to-day communication with colleagues, peers and clients.
Services include evaluation of social and cultural behavior during conversation. The client will be educated and trained to speak with a Standard American English dialect as well as become familiar with the everyday slang, social behavior and cultural expectations of communication in the United States.
